The Importance of Business Cards

In the field of business, it is a point of paramount significance to fraternize with people. In consequence of which a person will most likely end up making acquaintances that could later on turn out to be resourceful. In situations like these where we rub elbows with people
from different walks of life, it is inconvenient to familiarize ourselves with each other by reiterating personal business information each time we meet someone new. Business cards come in handy at such a juncture.

The concept of a business card proves to be a convenient tool in such a setting, operating as a memory aid. A business card, at the very least
comprises of your name and contact information like your street address, social media address, email id, fax or telephone number. It can be even more detailed and include business information about yourself .i.e. the name of your company, your designation at the company and sometimes even your qualifications. In order to give your business card an edge and make it look appealing, one can choose from an array of designs and layouts. Additionally, one could get witty and audacious with the content on his or her business card. For instance, let’s take Facebook’s CEO,Mark Zuckerberg as an example. At the top of his business card, is a single sentence that simply states “I’m CEO, Bitch.”

As far as business card designs are concerned, people can always experiment with the colour scheme. Also, there seems to be a link between personality traits and the kind of colour scheme chosen by an individual. Some fascinating research has been conducted in the area of correlation between personality and colour preference, which has proved to be quite insightful. For instance, cool colours that comprise of blue, green and purple are of low wavelength and energy. These colours are associated with sedate mood states, people who are less distracted by noise, reserved, people who have difficulty adapting to new circumstances.

Other personality traits associated with cool colours are peacefulness, calmness, excitement, controlled et al. Then there are warm colours like red, orange and yellow which are of high wavelength and high energy. They are active and stimulating. People who prefer these colours tend to have shorter reaction times and are more open and responsive to stimuli. They may also be more aggressive, risk taking and enthusiastic.

Furthermore, business cards are an excellent means for self-promotion and advertisement. Most of the shopkeepers have these made for themselves. Whenever we go for shopping, these shopkeepers make sure that they slip their business cards in our shopping bags along with our purchases. Another tactic which is quite rampantly used as a means of advertisement is to give out business cards to random strangers. These sales people, ordinarily position themselves in public settings, for instance, at railway stations, bus stops, on busy streets, outside school or college premises distributing their business cards to anybody who walks by them. All in all business cards are very beneficial for any person’s
business growth.
