Arthotsav '18 Diaries: Day 3

Day 3 was a whirlwind of hustle, hassles and emotion.

The final day of Arthotsav began with an informative session on Equity Investment by Yogesh Mody (Vice President, Axis Securities). Yogesh Sir was up and about, admiring the lush green campus grounds and even helping set up his own presentation minutes before his session. The session was extremely informative and brought to light many trends in the current markets for shares and derivative instruments. Mr. Mody also shared his own experiences - the new, prosperous India that is a far cry from the one he grew up in, the transformation in vocabulary from 'lakhpati' to 'crorepati', and ended on an optimistic note about India's future as an economy.

Next up was the Mega Event, Chaired. Our participating colleges showed up in full force, with Hulk and Wolverine bringing in strong voting contingents to support equally strong campaigners. The judging panel comprising Economics professors, Politics professors and volunteers from our own fest grilled the participants thoroughly, catching them at their weakest and applauding them at their finest. Many participants also managed to draw enthusiastic responses from the crowd, and voters ultimately voted in droves for the Flower Party, which advocated, among others,:

  • Unity in Diversity
  • Inclusive Development
  • Public dissuasion of hatred fomentation
  • Enhancing the quality of education
  • Measures to boost tourism, especially in the North
Aspiring politicians, take note.

Volunteers took a short break to catch a bite at the canteen while preparation for the final event, the Closing Ceremony, was underway. The photographers were extremely obliging, taking group pictures for volunteers and participants alike. Everyone stared agog at the gift bags as they came, chock-full of discount vouchers from Subway, McDonald's, Havmor and The Souled Store. Participants for The Rightful Heir were in for a special treat: they got some pretty dope Game Of Thrones merchandise (posters and badges among others) from Redwolf.  Congratulations to the best college this year : Jai Hind !!

The third year students were in for a further surprise: second-years and first-years had assembled in 7 arts, which hosted the mega event a few hours ago, to regale them with stories of gratitude and melancholy. Arthotsav definitely brought people closer, and the raucous laughter mixed with tears of sadness only bear witness to how much closer it brought us together. Time and again the CP had to get up to tell people to applaud more softly, lest the administration shut down the proceedings, but there was simply too much emotion in the air.

Volunteers came together one last time with a cake for their seniors.

Tussi jaa rahe ho, tussi na jao..

Arthotsav 2018 has officially ended, folks. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

-Vishal U.
