Arthotsav '19 Diaries: Day 2

Day 2 of Arthotsav began with Auction Avalanche, an event headed by Chairperson Sanyukta Buwa and Deputy Chairperson  Gayatri Naik. The event took place at Rupangan, a campus favorite. Round 1 was the elimination round wherein the teams had to write down as many clothing brands as they could in under a minute, and the first 8 teams to get the maximum number of names penned down qualified for the second round, where the actual game began. With the volunteers cheering in the background, the adrenaline rush in every single participant was at peak, the entire arena was buzzing with excitement. Round 2 began when each team was given two thousand bucks to spend on a box in an auction.
It was a task to choose which box they liked the best and thought worthy to call their own. Knowing the box would help in the next round, the highest bidder would keep the box to themselves and maybe be at advantage in the next round. In the next round, the participants had to deal and sell the goods they had in the box to collect a specific set of items, for example Harry Potter merchandise. The teams had to be at the best in both mental and dealing strategies to win this event.

Event 2 of the day was Scamsters of Mumbai. Headed by Puskar Risbud and Shekhara Pillai, this event saw a huge turnout.
The first round was an elimination round where 2 out of 5 teams were supposed to to go to the next round, where the game actually began. In the elimination round, teams were asked to name capitals of certain countries and the first two teams to answer correctly qualified to the next round. The teams were then given a tender to plan and they needed some raw materials for it to be completed, so the teams had to purchase the raw materials from the market in as minimal amount as possible. This was the market round. Before the market round began, the eliminated teams were called back to the game and the dejection on their faces was replaced by enthusiasm.
The market was spread across the classroom, with the volunteers having some specific materials to sell. The round began, and the once-quiet classroom, listening to the instructions of the game turned into a mad-rush place.
Participants were running around the place trying to grab the cheapest materials while the volunteers tried to sell their goods by calling out to the participants or actually going to them.

The adrenaline and enthusiasm in both, the participants and the volunteers was at its peak before it was time for the market to be closed. In the next round the participants had to present their tender to the judges and only the approved tenders would go to the next and the final round; the Scam round.
In the last round, participants were pointed out a scam found in their tender and they were to defend themselves in front of the judges. The best team with the best tender and the best defence was to win the event.
The participants were all set and so was our Prosecutor, rather in his element!
The event went on for a long time, but by the end of it the volunteers, the Heads and of course the participants themselves looked pleased with their efforts and how the entire event had shaped up.

The third and the final event of Day 2 of Arthotsav was Looking for Pleiades.
This event is the trademark Treasure Hunt, with seven clues, spread out across Dadar, Matunga and Mahim.
Headed by Neha Chavan, the event began with an elimination round where the team had to answer a questionnaire containing world countries, their capitals and their currencies. The first 12 teams to answer 18 out of 20 questions correctly was given their first clue and were sent out on the hunt.
Each clue lead to a place where the team members had to perform a task the volunteers asked them to get to the next clue. Some of the tasks included getting high five from random strangers, doing 15 push-ups and a lot more. The teams were allowed to use their own vehicle, the public transport or could rely on their feet to get to the clues. The first team to find and guess all the clues correctly and get back to the starting point won. It was great fun for participants and volunteers alike to see the teams unscramble the clues and rush to the different spots set up for the Hunt.
This event concluded the second day of this three day festival of Economics, Arthotsav.
