Arthotsav BTS: The Core Team

It's the super six, the aces of the pack, the Core Team.

It is but obvious, when you are the Core Team for a fest that is so close to everyone's heart, it gets ingrained into everything you do. Radhika exclaims, "We don't recall the last time we had a conversation not related to Arthotsav!"

With barely any time to spare, the festival is fast approaching and it is time to meet the pillars of the fest, the Core of Arthotsav 2019.

What exactly is the Core Team's work?
"To supervise, well, everything" this is known, but really, what do these guys do? Elaborating, they say, "Our job is overseeing the Event schedule, looking after the work of every department, along with making the final call with some decisions."

Point to note, this work had started way back in 2018, June in fact. The work then was begun and carried on by the Core members, and it is with time that everyone joins the team.

It is evident that Arthotsav is bigger than ever before this year; and the most plausible thing along with it is the smooth sailing everyone has had so far; simply because of proper management. All the Mentors have been instrumental in the creation of a perfect schedule along with its execution. The timeline has everyone working rigourously, and the Core team even more so, as they have to look after every last detail of the big picture.

With great work, comes great responsibilty, so said Spiderman and he seldom spoke truer words. Supervising all the work often requires the Core Team to stay back in college long after the lectured have ended for the day.

"Our sleep schedules are a mess" Safa says, deadpan. Neha gives a dry laugh as she adds, "it's tiring sometimes to the point that you just want to sleep, but you can't because there is so much work to do!"

"The more work you plan out, you realize how much more work has to be done"

All the members of the Core Team are mentoring at least one department. Being the Mentors, they have to make sure everything is in place regarding the work and schedule, and they are all super proud of their teams.

Gayatri says "I have said this before, and I will say it again, I have got the best team.
The Creatives have been so efficient in their work; it certainly lessens my work burden." Safa and her team have nearly finished their work, bringing in sponsors and she is super proud of her team as well, "everyone has done such a great job." Shivani, who is mentoring Hospitality, is very happy with the response she got from her team, "they all are enthusiatic about working and bringing the best for the fest!"

The Public Relations Department has made some brilliant content for Arthotsav 2019, that is now visible to everyone. The backstory however, not many know.
"The Date-reveal video needed to be edited quite a few times to get it just right" Radhika says, sharing the incident.
"We have stayed up to complete the work, and sometimes just to offer encouragement and support to each other for our respective works."

Late-night phone calls with your girl gang seem quite the fun thing, but in their own words "we stay awake to rant out the day's tiring work, to complete the work and just generally talking about Arthotsav work."

"Are there times when you all don't agree on the same things?" they are asked. It doesn't seem so, but some no team can be mutually agreeable all the time.
"Of course there are disagreements. Every team has disagreements; if they don't it's probably a dictatorship."
"But we have our ways to go around such points" Gayatri says, "we take votes."
The Chairperson adds, "we take all the decisions together. Honestly, it is hard for people to believe that there are no quarrels, but we have been amicable with each other throughout, and being friends we get the liberty of saying the truth without worrying about coming off as rude or mean."
"Everyone minds their own work" is what Radhika has to add, "we trust each other with responsibilities".

And how does being friends translate into the workings of Arthotsav?
"It has a great impact in the working; for the better, certainly.

Arthotsav this year is special for another reason- the Head of Economics Department, Salvi sir, is retiring. It is certainly an added responsibilty for the students to make sure nothing falls short in their efforts to ensure a spectacular fest. They get a little emotional at that.

"We are very fortunate" Sanyukta says, very genuinely and almost solemn, "we have had the best teachers and their contribution has been priceless in our academics." Safa nods her head vigourously, "really the best teachers."
Gayatri is quick to add, "the entire Economics department is savage."

One can imagine how close to the heart the farewell is going to be for all. An insensitive question almost, but they are asked, "will you guys cry at the farewell?"

They assure that they will all be very much emotional then, too sad at the thought of the Grand Scheme of things in the Economics department, of Arthotsav coming to an end for them.
"It is, after all the end of an era with Salvi sir retiring" but they say they are all excited as well.
Looking forward to seeing the hard work of many months materialize into 3 days of pure joy, enthusiasm and of course, Economics.
We end the interview and within a minute, Shivani and Sanyukta are back to the work they had left, t-shirt deal it seems. Busy people, these guys!
