Arthotsav BTS: Event Heads

There is only a couple of days to go to Arthotsav and you can feel it in the air, the calm of the chaos, the silence before the storm. Near the Economics department, everyone's sitting but you can feel their minds running, busy, some with excel sheets, some with long lists, some with artwork, all at hardwork. And there come I and my questions, to disturb the peace for a brief 10 minutes.
The event-heads, cool and collected, are clear with the concept, all having been a part of atleast one behind-the-scenes interview. I begin by asking them the core essence of their events.
Safa, in-charge of handling the virtual stock market event, Wolf of Dalal Street, says, "It's connected to real life stock exchange. People do invest and trade in securities and having their basic knowledge is necessary. That's what we test in this event."
Sanyukta, the event-head of Auction Avalanche speaks up, "It basically puts your marketing skills to test, how you can efficiently convince people to buy your product, how you can bargain and hassle."
Gayatri, her co-head, being one of the inventors of this event now in its second year adds, "It deals with bidding in an open market."
Neha, spearheading the treasure hunt event, Looking for Pleiades, tells us, "It's about deciphering clues at its core, but for the theme I wanted it to be the Universe and the constellations. Many countries, nowadays are investing a lot in space-research and expeditions, so i wanted the participants to put on a metaphorical astrosuit and go out for exploring!"
Pushkar and Shekhara, in-charge of the event Scamsters of Mumbai comment, "We got most of the inspiration for it through newspapers and Vijay Mallya. Government tenders are a very subjective, and most economics/finance students are not aware of them, when in fact we all should know how to prepare one and how they work. We are trying to bring much of reality in an imaginary event."
Soumya the maker and manager of the event Quizpicable Me replies by saying, "So Quizpicable me is basically a fusion of the classic game of snakes and ladders along with an extremely fun quiz. The quiz involves questions from all walks of life including economics, business, books, TV shows, movies and general knowledge. It also includes exciting tasks and challenges which the participants will be facing with alongside the quiz."

When asked how they are planning to organize and mange these events smoothly, Safa says, "We first make an outline and try to implement it in the mocks, after that it's trial and error till we get them right."
Gayatri, remembering last year's Auction Avalanche says, "Last year's mocks were pretty good but the actual event turned out to be quite chaotic."
Sanyukta, "We managed to tackle it then but we learned that not everything pans out perfectly, expect the best but prepare for the worst, and we have!"
Neha, about managing her event says, "All my volunteers of Logistics are helping and they are very systematic. Their job is to give the right clue to the right team, and I trust my volunteers, they'll carry out their responsibilty perfectly."
Pushkar says,"We have a team of a whopping 40 volunteers and all of them have been alloted work, some will be selling, some verifying, some will be clearing doubts on the day, so yeah, the event's going to go very well."
Soumya says, "I have an amazing team of volunteers who support and help curate ideas and also actually execute them. They're probably the best team I could've asked for! It's a pretty daunting task: making close to 300 questions! But the volunteers did an exceptional job with everything."

Further I ask them what advice would they give to the participants,
The CP says, "I would suggest them to maintain discipline, especially for the Auction event, last time they were tearing books and mishandling stuff, so I wish they would show some courtesy." "And Have Fun!" Gayatri adds.
Pushkar and Shekhara exclaim, "Be cunning, be a Badass!"
"Because we have added some interesting elements that will keep you on your toes." Shekhara adds.
Neha replies by saying, "I would definitely advice them to scope out the surroundings of our college."
Soumya says, "Just brush up on your basic GK and eco/business knowledge and you'll be good to go! The only advice is for participants to thoroughly enjoy themselves!"

Later I ask them if there were any events that were good but couldn't make it to the final list upon which Gayatri and Sanyukta say, "There were many innovative events suggested by the juniors but some were not developed or some were not practical to execute, but we are happy about the ones which are happening!"

When I ask them about the Grandfinale, the Megaevent, Retrospectrum, Sanyukta says, "As challenging it'll be to present it, play it, it just as challenging to put it together and come up with ideas for it."
Finally as I ask them how the mocks have gone, everyone shouts in enthusiasm
"AMAZING!!"
So now you know how real the hype is.
