Arthotsav BTS: Public Relations Department

Call them, visit them, invite them, convince them, but under no circumstances give them a chance to say 'No'.

The masters of the art of talking, this is a team that'll can convince you to rise from the dead and visit your own funeral! Unrelentless and just the coolest, it is Public Relations Team! We had a candid conversation with these folks and the results were nothing short of wonderful!

That day and that meeting was crucial, all were sitting in a circle deciding who shall take on which responsibility and it was almost heartbreaking to interrupt them and ask them nagging questions, but they were more than welcoming and way more than just  happy to answer them!

When asked what the exact role of PR was in Arthotsav, Vandana, one of the Heads says 'There is  no festival without people being there to celebrate it and that's what we do, PR brings people and maintain relations, as the name suggests." It is the Heart of Arthotsav!" Aishwarya, the other Head chimes in and it is agreed upon. PR has the delicate responsibility of approaching the other colleges making bonds with them and building them ever stronger with every passing year. But it is not always easy to find like-minded people and instantly connect with them, there are challenges on this course too, Mrunmayee, sharing one of her experiences says-

Mrunmayee: So I messaged this guy, who was the cultural secretary of his college and asked him  if he was the right guy and he said 'yeah' and then i was like "Great, so we have this fest called Arthotsav organized by our Economics department and we would love to have participants from your college" and then he asks me if it is an intercollegiate or intra-collegiate fest? "Matlab hamare college main fest hai bus tum logonko inform karke rakh rahe hai ki, ha bhai, fest hai, participation vagere kuch allowed nahi hai, sirf bata rahe hai ki bas fest hai!" and also the same guy, when i texted him 'Hi' earlier, he was like 'Bola!' matlab aise tone main jaise bachpan se milkar hum shaam ko badminton khelte hai. And after I had explained the all the things about Arthotsav his reaction was like 'Ha, Bhari!!' So yes, he seemed a bit unordinary, but it was a welcome change, it always is, meeting new such interesting people!

So now you know how versatile there work can be, but this bunch never forgets to have fun and laugh, even if it on themselves!

Samuel- We were doing a photoshoot with PR and they asked us to give a fake candid, so there I was like going 'hehe' and my friend and fellow PR-member Jayesh asks me "Why you laughed just for the sake of laughing and that cracked me up, for real this time, and that wound up being a joke, somehow, and it ended up by both of us laughing on both of us!' And we got a great photo out of it #RealCandid!

But as silly as they seem, they are just as serious and pure business when it comes down it. When I gave them a situation in which I was an adamant CL of another college who did not like Economics and they had to convince me, the same guy stepped up and this time what he said raised no laughter, only awe.

Samuel-Hello, I am from the PR team of Arthotsav, I'll begin by asking you why don't you like Economics? And then I'll explain to you that even though it may sound dull at first, Economics is in fact very amazing when it is come to the practicality of it and here at Arthotsav we show you the fun side of economics in a way that you'll end up loving it.

With pride in her eyes, the Head sealed the deal by saying "Come on over to Ruparel, it's not just Arthotsav you'll enjoy but the lush green campus, delicious food being served out in our canteen and our students are all simply amazing and eagerly awaiting your arrival!" And I was convinced.

Further they reveal their plan for the year, to bring in as many as participants as they can and make a blast out of it, with fierce determination in their eyes.  And embracing all their fierceness, silliness and awesomeness they choose their slogan '#PyaarsePR'. Claiming themselves as the Rachel of all the departments, if Arthotsav was a 90s sitcom, these are the people who don't just talk the talk, but walk the gotdamn walk!
